Bill Sofsky

Dr. William (Bill) Sofsky is a Clinical Associate Professor of Accounting in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte. He has experience and expertise in financial accounting and reporting, particularly for insurance entities.

 

Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, he served as the chief accounting officer of the US Life operations of a large global reinsurance company. After starting his career in public accounting, he worked in accounting, finance, and treasury roles in the insurance industry for 26 years. During his insurance industry career, he worked for international insurance groups, including four years of international experience in The Netherlands. Bill served on or as an advisor to the boards of directors of the group’s subsidiaries in the US, Bermuda, and Ireland.

 

Bill is a Certified Public Accountant currently licensed in North Carolina. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute, and a member of the American Accounting Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Bill is a dual citizen of the US and Ireland.
